O'Reilly ASCoT Northern Swing Finale Saturday at Huron!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 26, 2008) – The O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series puts the wraps on its 2008 Northern Swing with Saturday night's stop atop the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Dakota State Fair Speedway dirt oval in Huron, SD.

The ASCS Northern Swing opened last Friday night at Iowa's Knoxville Raceway with Louisiana's Jason Johnson snaring his fifth series win on the season, with Kansas shoe Tony Bruce, Jr., becoming just the second driver to post multiple ASCoT wins thus far in 2008 with a Tuesday night score at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD.

Pursuing an unprecedented fifth ASCS National championship, Gary Wright of Hooks, TX, enters Saturday night's card at Dakota State Fair Speedway with a 30-point advantage after finishing second to Bruce on Tuesday night at I-90 Speedway.

Wright has his hands full with Johnson, who has finished second in ASCoT points over each of the past two seasons and topped last year's event at Dakota State Fair Speedway.

Oklahoma City native Wayne Johnson, who finished second to the unrelated Jason Johnson last year in Huron, enters Saturday's card ranked third, with past ASCS National champions Zach Chappell of Talala, OK, and Garry Lee Maier of Cimarron, KS, rounding out the current top five.

Other top National contenders expected for Saturday night include 2006 Rookie of the Year Nick Smith (Broken Arrow, OK), leading Rookie of the Year contender Eric Baldaccini (Keller, TX), Kenneth Walker (Sapulpa, OK), 18-year-old Jack Dover (Springfield, NE) and 17-year-old Kathryne Minter (Bedford, TX).

Fargo's Wade Nygaard is out to the early lead in ASCS Northern Plains Regional points after winning last Thursday night's opener at Red River Valley Speedway and then finishing 15th in Tuesday's card at I-90 Speedway. Nygaard is 20 markers ahead of defending Northern Plains champion Lee Grosz of Harwood, ND, with Sioux Falls racer Eric Lutz two more points back in third.
