Toyota Tundra to Sponsor 16th Annual ASCS Speedweek!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (June 18, 2008) – Toyota Tundra has signed on as title sponsor of the upcoming 16th Annual ASCS Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek, which runs from July 11 through July 19 and features the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series.

A point fund of $5,000 will be distributed among the top five drivers in final points over the six events of the 16th Annual Toyota Tundra ASCS Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek, with in excess of $100,000 in purse and point fund money up for grabs over the course of the week.

Toyota Tundra, the full-size truck that is changing it all, recently earned the 2008 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award. There will be a Toyota Tundra display at each Speedweek event.

The intensely competitive Toyota Tundra ASCS Speedweek fires off on Friday night, July 11, at Texarkana's 67 Speedway, with Round Two taking place the following night at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway.

After an off night, Round Three takes place on Monday night, July 14, at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa. Then on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (July 17-19), the final three legs of Toyota Tundra ASCS Speedweek unfold at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway and then Lawton Speedway.

Hooks, TX, ace Gary Wright reigns as defending ASCS Speedweek champion after collecting his sixth Speedweek crown in 2007. Wright's dominant performance snapped a Speedweek title drought of four years, with other champions during the interim including Jason Johnson (2006), Darren Stewart (2005), Tim Crawley (2004) and Shane Stewart (2003).

Wright's first ASCS Speedweek crown came in 1994, with ensuing titles 1997, 1999, 2000 and then 2002. Other past ASCS Speedweek champions include Kevin Ramey (2001) and Terry Gray (1993, 1995, 1996 and 1998).

The O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series is currently slated for 42 nights of racing action at 22 different tracks throughout a dozen different states, with more than $1,000,000 in purse money and point fund to be distributed during the 2008 season.

Speedweek has been a fixture of the ASCS National schedule since 1993, with 98 events completed through the 2007 season. The second event completed during the upcoming 16th Annual Toyota Tundra ASCS Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek will mark the 100th event in ASCS Speedweek history.
