(Dec. 15) – I.M.C.A.-sanctioned Modi-fieds are on the race card as part of an earlier-than-usual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track. The 13th annual event is Thursday-Sunday, Jan. 8-11. Modifieds will race for $1,500 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. Clausen Racing Gulf Coast Region and national points will also be given. The minimum 2,450 lb. weight rule will be in effect. Pit gates open at 9 a.m. all four days. Open practice sessions run from 1-5 p.m. Thursday and from noon-4 p.m. Friday. Qualifying races follow the 11 a.m. drivers’ meeting on Saturday. Consolation and feature races get under way at noon Sunday. Defending race winner is Jamey Wynn of Munford.
