Reason for the lap 24 & 25 situation was due to out of control racing and several lapped cars not responding to move over. Provisional results were not posted because a second total audit was ordered and completed on Sunday. Margin n/a. #85's 16.832 establishes THR/TPS record. #20 & #85 black flagged, flagrant over aggressive driving. Penalty notes: #26 was penalized to 4th place for failing engine size P&G inspection. dna - did not arrive … dnt - did not time … r - eligible for 2008 TPS "Rookie Of The Year" Award TPS thanks race sponsors: Lone Star Grass & Landscape, Austin thru: Luke & Candi Hogan Richard & Bea Villanueva of San Antonio Nelson Skinner, Attorney at Law of San Antonio Express Jet Airlines thru: Jim Nides TPS thanks Thunderhill Raceway for hosting the 2nd TPS race of the 2008 season. 3RD and FINAL TPS SCORING AUDIT EXPLANATION: Due to scoring and realignment issues and lapped cars during race, TPS had no choice but to discount laps 24 & 25 and rule race completed on the last reliably scored lap which was lap 23. Three cars were recorded as the only cars to finish lead lap 23 - #26, #70, #7. Before the engine P&G inspection was completed the race was ruled completed on lap 23. In post race inspection, #26 failed P&G measurement & was penalized to 4th place (a penalty consistent with TPS policy) Therefore, #70 was first car to finish lap 23 and elevated to the win. #7 was elevated to 2nd place (#70 wasn't inspected because above facts were not known during P&G inspection of #7 & #26) #20's & #85's race was terminated at lap 21 with a black flag for flagrant over aggressive driving. #20 and #85 were the first two cars to complete 21 laps & finished accordingly. #3 was incorrectly scored on final lap 23. #3 was the third car to complete 21 laps and was elevated to 7th. #72 was moved back from 7th to 8th. #27 remained in 9th place. Scoring error moved #56 back 8th to 10th. #46 remained in 11th. #71 completed 21 laps and was moved back to 12th. Points and purse distribution was changed according to the above findings and final judgments. 3rd AUDIT of TPS RACE RESULTS is FINAL and OFFICIAL and MAY NOT BE APPEALED ! 2008 TPS POINTS(after April 12) REVISED Position Car # r Driver Hometown Point Total 1--- 70 Mike Merrell/Kingsland, TX 29 2--- 26 Lalo Leal/Corpus Christi, TX 28 3--- 7 Jesse Sandoval/Corpus Christi 25 4--- 85 Ja Lane/Katy, TX 20 5--- 22 Harry Osburn Jr./San Antonio, TX 19 6--- 84 J r Josh Cournoyer/Wichita Falls, TX 19 7--- 27 Bill Labarge/Bryan, TX 18 8--- 20 Sergio Hexsel/Live Oak, TX 17 9--- 48 Mike Knotts/Universal City, TX 12 10-- 86 r Michael Deschenes/Kansas City, MO 11 11-- 46 r Mark Rahn/San Antonio, TX 9 12-- 28 r Lisa Sandoval/Corpus Christi, TX 9 13-- 3 r Bob Sherland/San Antonio, TX 8 14-- 72 Candi Hogan/Cedar Park, TX 7 15-- 24 r Jody Wayne Stuart, San Antonio 7 16-- 71 Bruce Mabrito/San Antonio, TX 6 17-- 31 r Brooks Payne/Wichita Falls, TX 6 18-- 4 r David Wright/Wichita Falls, TX 5 19-- 56 Jason Krueger/Seguin, TX 4 20-- 23 J.J. NickHolt
Under TPS rules, the Race Director decides what action needs to be taken when discrepancies/violations are discovered. There have been other instances in the past when Mr. Upchurch has used his considerable years of experience to make scoring adjustments. I recall more than one instance where someone was moved to the rear of the lap they finished or otherwise docked positions in the final results.
