Stock special starts season at Ark-La-Tex VIVIAN, La. (Dec. 9) – Ark-La-Tex Speedway will kick off its 2004 season with the inaugural I.M.C.A. Stock Car Nationals Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24-25. Winner of the 50-lap feature at Vivian earns $5,000, with a minimum of $500 paid to start the main event. Pit gates open at 9 a.m. both days, with hot laps at noon and racing at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $100 if mailed by Jan. 10 or $150 after that date. Test ‘n tune is Friday, Jan. 23, with an open practice get-ting underway at 3 p.m. Rain date is Jan. 31-Feb. 1. Sponsors of the event include Sunoco Race Fuels, Lone Star Super Gas and Day Motor Sports. Questions about the Stock Car Nationals can be directed to promoter Gene Boyter at (318) 375-3470.
