Grable is Able in ASCS Southwest Opener

 

Lonnie Wheatley, TUCSON, Ariz. (March 22, 2008) – Don Grable captured the inaugural American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region feature win as the series contested its first event at USA Race Park on Saturday night.

 

 

 

Grable took command when early pacesetter Rick Ziehl was forced pitside with engine woes and charged to the checkered flag in the 25-lapper aboard the Casey Minks-owned No. 29x entry.

 

 

 

The El Paso racer was chased to the line by Ronnie Clark, with Steve Martin, Mike Rux, Jr., and Hawaii's Dennis Krob rounding out the top five.

 

 

 

Ohio's Rich Boughan was sixth, with Ben Gregg rebounding from a heat race flip to snare seventh. Cody Cambensy crossed the line eighth, with Joshua Williams and Bobby Marcum completing the top ten.

 

 

 

John Gaston got upside down to bring out an early red flag in the feature, with Shawn Sander eliminated in the incident as well.

 

 

 

Sander, Marcum and Martin topped heat race action.
