There's a new Pollard in town!

Jeff Pollard, driver of the #17 Pontiac Grand Prix who finished third in the 2003 Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS) points standings, added yet another milestone (and family member) on Wednesday.

Pollard and his wife, Leigh Ann, became the proud parents of Pearson Jeffrey Pollard, who arrived into the world at 6:02 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The newborn was 20 inches long and weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce. Pearson Jeffrey is Jeff and Leigh Ann's first child.

"I'm still a little stunned about what's happened," Jeff Pollard said. "I'm very proud of what happened tonight, and I'm particularly proud of Leigh Ann. She's been a trooper this past week, and I'm glad it's over for her."

Pollard joked, "I look for Pearson to win the 2028 Nextel Cup championship!"

On Wednesday night at 8:45 p.m., Pollard reported that both mother and son were doing well at Northeast Medical Center in Humble.

Pollard had a stellar season on the track while running in the series. He started 11 races and claimed 10 top-10 finishes. He won two TSRS races - on April 5th at Thunder Hill Raceway and July 26th at Houston Motorsports Park - and also landed seven top-5 finishes in 2003.

"Victory Lap" coming for Houston's newest 'racer'

Pearson Jeffrey Pollard, who came into the world to TSRS race car driver

Jeff and Leigh Ann Pollard on Wednesday night, will take a "victory lap" at

Houston Motorsports Park sometime this weekend.

Pollard, who finished third in the 2003 Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS)

points standings while driving the #17 Pontiac Grand Prix, said one of his

life-long goals was to take a victory lap on a race track with his

first-ever child. "Racing is a big part of the lives of Leigh Ann and

myself," Pollard declared. "Thus, we want our son to share in that, as he'll

share in everything in our lives from here on."

Specific details of Pearson Pollard's Victory Lap will be finalized by late

Thursday or early Friday.

Pollard said Thursday morning that mother and son were doing fine,

although.."We didn't get much sleep (Wednesday) night. We were scheduled to

feed Pearson at 3 a.m., and apparently we didn't 'burp' him right because he

was a little on the grumpy side for the next hour-and-a-half. Oh well,"

Pollard said with a big grin, "Guess we'd better get used to this."

Pearson Jeffrey Pollard arrived into the world at 6:02 p.m. on Wednesday,

Dec. 3. The newborn was 20 inches long and weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce.

Pearson Jeffrey is Jeff and Leigh Ann's first child.

Check back next week as JP takes his son out to his favorite watering holes. Tequilla shots and the mechanical bull are at the top of the list.

Congrats Jeff & Leigh Ann! We are so happy for you both and glad to hear everything went well with the birth of your son. Don't forget...Pearson is gonna have some competition for that Nextel Cup Win, with some other next generation racers that are still in the oven. Sounds like he's got a good jump start, though. Have a wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing 'all' of you, real soon.
