> WATSONVILLE, Calif. (Oct. 5) – A strong field of California drivers

> look to defend their home turf, while visitors from neighboring

> states hope to take home the $5,000 top prize from Ocean Speedway’s

> Western Region IMCA Modified Nationals next Fri day and Saturday,

> Oct. 12-13.

> The inaugural special pays a minimum of $1,000 to start, giving the

> event one of the highest purses to be paid out for a sanctioned event

> this season. The winner also joins the ballot for the 2008 Fast

> Shafts All-Star Invitational, to be held during the IMCA Speedway

> Motors Super Nationals.

> “I look forward to seeing many of the best Modified drivers in the

> region competing next weekend at Watsonville,” said IMCA Vice

> President of Operations Brett Root. “The Western Region Nationals is

> a guaranteed great show and has the potential in the future to become

> one of the biggest events for the division in the country.”

> Pit gates open at noon, with hot laps at 5 p.m. and rac ing to follow

> both days. Pit passes are $40 a day or $75 for both days.

> Friday’s grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $7 for children

> ages 6-12. On Saturday, admission is $20 for adults and $10 for

> children.

>

> Two-day tickets are $25 for adults, $12 for children or $60 for two

> adults and two children. Kids five and under get in free both days.

> Camping sites are available at no charge.
