-- For Immediate Release

KILGORE, Texas – The leading dirt track auto racing sprint car drivers from around the world will invade East Texas Friday night, October 24 when the O’Reilly World of Outlaws tackle the high-banked Lone Star Speedway.

In addition to the winged sprint car competitors, stock car drivers from throughout the Southwest are expected for the Modified Shootout Friday and Saturday nights. The winner of the Modified Shootout will collect $2,500 Saturday night. Also competing in Saturday night’s show will be the I-stocks, hot stocks and pure stocks.

Three-time O’Reilly World of Outlaws champion Sammy Swindell will be among the favorites in Friday night’s sprint car competition. Swindell has won five previous World of Outlaws races held in the 1980s at Lone Star Speedway and will be shooting for the $10,000 first-place payoff set for Friday night’s sprint car feature winner.

Steve Kinser, 17-time O’Reilly World of Outlaws champion and the current series point leader, will be seeking to add to his 496 career World of Outlaws feature race wins. Kinser will also be looking to put a lock on this year’s point battle at Lone Star. Joining Kinser at Lone Star will be his teenage son Kraig Kinser who is beginning his sprint car career.

Danny Lasoski, winner of the World of Outlaws Gumout Series at Lone Star last year and track recordholder with a lap of 110.269 mph, will try to cut into Kinser’s point lead at Lone Star and make a late-season charge for his second series title. Lasoski drives for defending NASCAR Winston Cup champion Tony Stewart.

Other nationally-known sprint car drivers set to appear at Lone Star are Joey Saldana, Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz, Paul McMahan, Mark Kinser, Jason Meyers and Tim Shaffer.

Spectator grandstand gates will open at 6 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights with the first race scheduled for 7:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets are on sale at all Cavender’s stores in East Texas or by calling the speedway at (903) 986-9731.
