Cordes, Murty, Forbes, and Burkhart Close Out Benton County Fair With Wins

July 29, 2007

Troy Cordes mastered a slick track and the competition to take the feature win in the IMCA Modified division closing out the 2007 Benton County Fair. Jerry Luloff took the lead on lap sixteen and looked to be on his way to the win until Cordes slipped underneath on lap nineteen to steal the win. Luloff finished second ahead of point leader, JD Auringer, who battled from deep in the field to finish third.

Damon Murty led the final ten laps to claim the IMCA Stock Car feature win. Norman Chesmore chased Murty to the strip finishing second ahead of Scooter Dulin.

Brad Forbes rolled his car during the Thursday fair race, but made amends to take the feature win in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature Sunday night. Forbes took the lead on lap four and never looked back scoring the win ahead of Scotty Pippert and Nathan Ballard.

Troy Burkhart picked up his second win of the week taking the win in the IMCA Sport Mod feature. After winning the fair special on Thursday, he proved it was no fluke as he held off the advances of Kyle Bentley for the win. Bentley finished second ahead of Jim Buhlman.

Gary Pfeiffer held off Jena Barthelmes to take the IMCA Sport Compact feature win. Doug Laughridge finished third.

A wild finish to the IMCA Hobby Stock make up feature saw Nathan Ballard capture the win on a final lap dramatic pass. Steve Higham settled for second ahead of Matt Brown.

The pair of Kimm and Kruse took home the winning hardware in the Cruiser feature event.
