Champions Crowned at HOT

 

 

ELM MOTT-Season champions were crowned Friday night at the last point night of the 2003 racing season at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.

 

Keith Green of Robinson won the IMCA modified feature and the track championship. Cody Williamson from Waco finished the race in second place and the season in third. Ronnie Warren of Oglesby was the third place driver in the feature and second in overall season points.

 

Benji Kirkpatrick of Elm Mott won the I-Stock feature and the track championship but lost an engine to a post race claim. Tim Ezell from Buffalo finished second in the race and the final point standings. Eric Jones from Killeen took third in the feature.

 

Waco driver Chris Cogburn took home the winner's trophy in the SIMS limited modified feature and ended the season in second place. Mark McDaniel from Elm Mott claimed second in the race and was named the track champion in this class.

Ritchie Robins from Lorena finished the race in third.

 

Tommy Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott won the street stock feature race to end the season in second place. Mark Geurin from Whitney ran second in the race. Street stock season champ Doug Andrews was third in the feature.

 

Shad Stevens from Troy took home the feature win and the track championship in the final season for the mini stock class at the speedway. Jason Hoffman from Killeen nailed down second in the race and the point standings. Billy White from Gatesville was third across the finish line.

 

Timmy Kemp from Waco sewed up his first season championship in the pure stock class with a win in the feature race. Jimmy Reid also from Waco followed Kemp to the checkered flag, and Kevin Smith from Waco finished third in the race and second in points.

 

Chad Barber from Waco finished the cruiser feature in sixth, but earned the championship in this class. Feature winner, Chris Wills from Waco, finished second for the season. Jeff Woodruff from Elm Mott, and Jeremy Knight from Waco rounded out the top three in the feature.

 

Dillon Smith from China Spring made the trip to Victory Lane in the junior mini stock class and ended the season in second place in points. Brandon Hood from McGregor was second in the race but was named the champion of the class. Nathan Sodek from Temple finished the race in third.

 

The speedway will take a week off before the final Enduro 250 race of the series on Saturday, October 11. The final event of the 2003 racing season will be the two day Fall Classic on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25.
