Two killed when struck by freightliner on I-30 By LORI DUNN Texarkana Gazette NEW BOSTON, Texas-Two men were killed early Tuesday when they were struck by a freightliner while changing a flat tire on the side of Interstate 30. The driver of the big rig that struck them failed to stop but was later apprehended and taken to jail. Robert Kendrick Breen, 25, of Clifton, Texas, and Dale Stephen Blancett, 22, of Waco, Texas, died at the scene, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety fatality report. The accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. just west of New Boston in the eastbound lane of I-30, according to the report. The men were changing a tire on the left side of a 2001 van that was parked on the right shoulder of the interstate when they were struck by a 1996 freightliner driven by Danny Robert Chiarella. There was no age or address available for Chiarella Tuesday. According to the report, Chiarella's truck was approaching the victim's vehicle when he veered to the shoulder. He tried to take evasive action back to the left but was unable to do so. He sideswiped the van striking both men.
