Tri-City points continues next week, rained out this weekend

Rain the Cause of Racing Postponement by Bill Morris

 

 

 

For the past two Friday nights Mother Nature has been the big winner at the Tri-City Speedway. The resent rainfall left the racing surface and surrounding parking area soggy, with some spots impassable.

 

 

 

When the green flag drops next Friday night the points toward the Tri-City Speedway 2007 Track Championship will again be on the mind of the drivers. Points are awarded to drivers in each event run during the season, with the driver in each division earning the most points during the season crowned as the Track Champion.

 

 

 

In Pure Stock competition local Pleasanton driver Janel Hilla leads the points with 120. Close behind with 113 points is Atascosa’s Russell Netwich.

 

 

 

Barry Major, of Orange Grove, tops the street Stock division with 118 points with San Antonio’s Chris Clark in second with 105 points.

 

 

 

Action in the Super Stock run for the championship is close, as defending champion Gary Hunter, of Elmendorf and New Braunfels driver Trey Votion are tied with 120 points.

 

 

 

In the growing IMCA Sport Modified field San Antonio’s Robert Williams with 113 points has a one point lead over Andy VanBlarcom of Robston. Rounding out the top three with 110 points is San Antonio’s Johnny Torres.

 

 

 

San Antonio’s Curt Clegg with 108 points leads the IMCA Sunoco division, with Darin Leonard close behind with 107 points. Close behind the leaders with 106 points is Bill Pittaway, of Corpus Christi.

 

 

 

The exciting action of Dirt Track racing is scheduled to return to the ¼ mile at the Tri-City Speedway this Friday night starting at 8:00pm. The Address for Auto Racing in San Antonio on the frontage road of I-37 at the 101 mile marker.
