NickHolt Posted May 9, 2007 Report Share Posted May 9, 2007 IMCA Lone Star Nationals Set for TMS The Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track will play host to a second major event this season with the IMCA Lone Star Nationals set for Sept. 27-29, Gossage announced today. The three-day event will feature IMCA Modifieds, SportMods and Stock Cars in addition to a special one-day show by the Sprint Series of Texas on Sept. 29. The Lone Star Nationals is expected to attract in excess of 300 cars and draw drivers from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska. The Lone Star Nationals will begin Sept. 27 with open practice for all competitors. On Sept. 28, qualifying events will be held for all three IMCA divisions.Drivers in each of the divisions will compete in 15-lap heat races followed by 20-lap qualifying feature events to determine the starting lineups for the final evening’s races. On Sept. 29, the IMCA divisions will compete in 20-lap “last chance” races followed by a 30-lap championship for each. The Sprint Series of Texas will have a full race program that day as well, with heats, “last chance”races and a 30-lap feature.A unique twist to the Lone Star Nationals will be the crowning of the IMCA Texas Track Champion. Drivers will compete for their designated weekly home tracks and their performances as a team will determine which track will earn the special honor.
