rebelracewriter
DRIVERS SET TO VISIT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY IN PREPARATION FOR RACE FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Feb. 18, 2003): Kerry Earnhardt, driver of the #12 FitzBradshaw Chevrolet and Scott Wimmer, who drives the #23 Chevrolet for Bill Davis Racing, will be at Texas Motor Speedway next Tuesday, Feb. 25, for a preview of the O'Reilly 300. The two drivers will be available to the media during lunch from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at The Speedway Club. Following that, it is down to the track as Earnhardt and Wimmer give members of the media rides on the superspeedway in a Busch car from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. TRIBUTE TO "THE INTIMIDATOR": A tribute to the late Dale Earnhardt is being prepared at Texas Motor Speedway and will be on display in Speedway World, the official gift store at the speedway. A full body merchandising mannequin with Earnhardt's helmet, uniform, and Nike driving shoes will be featured in the store. All items for the display have been donated from speedway general manager Eddie Gossage's personal collection. DRIVER'S EDGE: The Driver's Edge program will be at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 8. The program is designed to teach students, between the ages of 15 and 21 with a valid permit or license, how to operate a motor vehicle during "panic situations." The session includes a four-hour MTV-style program providing comprehensive real life training for young drivers in an effort to combat ever increasing statistics on teen accidents and driving fatalities. A total of 200 young drivers will have the opportunity to participate in this innovative program. There is no cost. To register, call (877) 633-EDGE. RAISING THE TOWER: Construction has begun on the new location for the scoring tower that recently fell in the infield at the speedway. On Jan. 28, the scoring tower, originally in Turn Three, fell during high winds near the speedway. Crews have dug the new hole in the infield near Turn Four to anchor the new tower and are busy building the new structure, which will be completed in time for RPM Week-Texas, March 27-30.
