Amite, Louisiana's Michael Dupuy leads the ASCS Coastal Region into the weekend after sweeping the series' most recent event, a March 24 stop at South Mississippi Speedway in Long Beach.

Dupuy, the 2002 ASCS National Tour runner-up, has broken out to an 18-point lead over Michael Herrington in the ASCS Coastal Region's inaugural championship points race. Robert Casada enters Friday's card ranked third, with Shane Morgan and Todd Fayard rounding out the current top five.

Friday's event marks the first injected Sprint Car event at Southern Speedway. ASCS Coastal Region contenders Shane Morgan and Lane Whittington split 2005 wins in carbureted sprint action.

With a pair of events in the books this season, Dupuy and West Memphis, AR, racer Marshall Skinner have each enjoyed ASCS Coastal Region victory lane.
