Ace Added to ASCS Southern Tour Deck

TULSA, Okla. (March 21, 2007) - The American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour has added another asphalt event to the 2007 slate, with the premier Sprint Car series in the southeastern portion of the United States now slated to take to the 4/10-mile, semi-banked Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC, on Friday night, June 1.

The addition of Ace Speedway makes for a double header of ASCS Southern Tour asphalt action for the weekend, with the series moving on to South Carolina's Dillon Motor Speedway the following night.

The inaugural asphalt events in ASCS history could prove lucrative for some driver, as a sweep of the weekend would net $5,000. Both events offer up $2,000 to win, with a $1,000 bonus to the driver that can race to victory lane in both events. Both features offer a minimum of $400 to start, with $450 and up for 18th and better.

By taking to asphalt for the first time, the ASCS Southern Tour will increase the series' fan base throughout the Carolinas and beyond as well as attract new teams to the series.

The ASCS Rocky Mountain Region is also slated for a pair of asphalt events in Erie, CO, in 2007.

The ASCS Southern Tour asphalt double at Ace Speedway and Dillon Motor Speedway follows the opening handful of events, which take place on dirt tracks. The series opens at Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA, on April 28 in a match race versus the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Region. The season opener also will serve as a tune-up for the inaugural East Coast Nationals to be held at Virginia Motor Speedway with the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour on May 25-26.

The 2007 slate for the ASCS Southern Tour currently consists of 18 events at 13 different tracks throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
