American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region Slate Revealed

TULSA, Okla. (January 17, 2007) – With Sunnyvale, TX, racer Sam Hafertepe, Jr., reigning as the sixth different American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region champion in as many years, the 2007 series slate has been announced.

The current 2007 schedule for the competitive ASCS Sooner Region consists of 16 events at seven different tracks throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas.

The season kicks off with the Sooner Region's first stand-alone event at Waco's Heart 'O Texas Speedway on April 13. The following night, the series moves north to Cowtown Speedway near Fort Worth, TX, an event run in conjunction with the weekend's NASCAR activities at Texas Motor Speedway. Last year, Carl Edwards made a surprise appearance and competed in his first ASCS event.

A week later the series is north of Tulsa at Mid-America Speedway, near the Oklahoma-Kansas state line in South Coffeyville, OK, for a two-night affair that offers up $3,000 to win on the April 21 finale.

After another Mid-America stop on May 26, the series takes to Little Rock's I-30 Speedway a week later, June 2. The June 2 card, which marks the only Sooner Region stop in Arkansas, will be versus the ASCS Mid-South Region.

The series makes the first of a pair of Oklahoma City-Lawton weekends on June 15-16, with the second coming on August 17-18.

The series second Cowtown stop comes between the pair of Oklahoma City-Lawton doubles on June 30.

The ASCS Sooner Region later takes on the ASCS Gulf South Region on consecutive nights, with an August 31 card at Waco's Heart O' Texas Speedway followed by the Fifth Annual Sooner vs. Gulf South Shootout at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, the following night.

A third and final stop at Cowtown Speedway on September 15 is followed by the series season championship finale at Mid-America Speedway on October 5-6.

Along with each of the other eleven ASCS Regions and the ASCS National Tour, two representatives from the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region will be invited to compete in the Race for a Wesmar Engine at Devil's Bowl Speedway's Winter Nationals in Mesquite, TX, on October 13.
