rebelracewriter Posted August 27, 2003 Report Share Posted August 27, 2003 For Immediate Release Aug. 25, 2003 Contact Bill Martin (319) 472-2201, x225 Lubbock Motor Speedway hosts 10th Labor Day Nationals LUBBOCK, Texas – Lubbock Motor Speedway hosts the 10th annual A/C Delco Labor Day Nationals Aug. 29-31, with a $4,000 prize waiting for the I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modified feature winner. The 40-lap feature will start 24 cars and qualifying for the main event pays a minimum of $750. Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 7:15 p.m. and racing starts at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and again Sun-day night. The draw closes at 7:45 p.m. each evening and drivers who arrive after that time, or who don’t draw, will start scratch. Car count will determine the number of heats, with winners advancing to nightly qualifying features. All other drivers go to “B” mains. The top five finishers in Friday and Saturday features qualify for Sunday’s big show. Sixth through 10th on Fri-day and Saturday advance to the “B” race on Sunday, and the top 14 cars in that race move on to the main event. Barring a rainout, full payment of the purse is guaran-teed and drivers who race all three nights and don’t qual-ify get $100 tow money. Those who don’t transfer out of Sunday’s “B” race get $500. Labor Day Nationals is I.M.C.A.-sanctioned and all I.M.C.A. rules apply. The 2,450 lb. weight rule will be in effect.
