Southern SportMod Nationals and the final point night for street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. 82 races competed in qualifying events for Saturday’s feature event in the two day SportMod Nationals. Track champions were named in all other classes.  Paul Bolfing from Waco won the street stock feature and the track championship. Mark Geurin from Whitney ran second in the race followed by Ed Thompson from Waco in third.  David Sawyer from Axtell achieved his goal of being this year’s pure stock champion with a win in the feature race. Ray Vann and Slim Daniel, both from Waco finished the race in second and third.  Elm Mott drivers William Dean and Michael Haisler, took the top two spots in the cruiser feature. Haisler ended the season as the champ in this class. Michael Guenat from Robinson finished the race in third.  Corbin Taylor from Waco got the win in the junior mini stock feature, but second place finisher, Dylan Smith from Riesel, earned the track championship. Brandon Campos from Waco ran third in the race.  The Sprint Series of Texas and the Brazos Mini Sprints will be added to the second night of the I.M.C.A. Southern SportMod Nationals tonight along with the Race of Champions for all 2006 track champions competing in tonight’s events.   Gates open at 5:00 P.M. and racing begins at 7:00 P.M.  Coming Events  September 30, 2006 Saturday 7:00 P.M.
