rebelracewriter
Texas Motor Speedway Media Relations, (817) 215-8520 CONTACT: Sarona Winfrey Brian Briscoe -- For Immediate Release TEXAS ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING 2004 SEASON SCHEDULE – SEASON TICKETS ON SALE FORT WORTH-DALLAS (August 12, 2003) – Texas Motor Speedway today announced that season ticket prices for 2004 will not increase for the fourth straight year. The speedway officially kicked off the 2004 Season Ticket campaign with an announcement regarding the 2004 season schedule which will feature a NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series weekend and two Indy Racing League IndyCar Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events. The Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race week will shift to April next year with the Nextel Cup race being held on Sunday, April 4 and the O’Reilly 300 NASCAR Busch Series race on Saturday, April 3. The speedway also announced dates for two NASCAR Truck Series events – the O’Reilly 400k on Friday, June 11 and the Silverado 350k on Saturday, Oct. 16. The speedway will also host two IRL IndyCar Series events -- the Bombardier 500k and the Chevy 500k – although the speedway was not able to officially announce the dates pending the IRL’s announcement of their 2004 schedule. “It’s going to be another terrific year of racing,” said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. “Fans can look forward to six great events without having to pay more for their season tickets. For the fourth straight year our Season Ticket holders will have the opportunity to buy their season ticket package for the same money they paid in 2001. I don’t know of any other major professional sport that has done this for its fans.” Season Tickets for 2004 went on sale Tuesday and range in price from $170 to $415 for the six-race package. Fans who pay for their tickets in full by October 1, 2003 will receive them at 2001 prices and receive a year’s subscription to National Speed Sport News valued at $49. Those who purchase after October 1 or elect a payment plan will pay a slightly higher price for the package. As always, Season Ticket Holders are guaranteed seats for all races on the 1.5-mile superspeedway as well as a number of perks including a special party during NASCAR Nextel Cup week in 2004. “For the third year we’ll host Fandango, a private party for our Season Ticket Holders, on April 1,” said Gossage. “The event is hosted each year by FOX TV’s Mike Joy and features Michael Waltrip and Ken Schrader with some special guests sharing stories and answering questions from the audience. Although this event is free to our Season Ticket Holders, we actually saw Fandango tickets on ebay last year for $125. It’s something that appeals to a lot of fans.” Season Tickets are available at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500 or by going online to www.texasmotorspeedway.com.
