TEXAS SHOWDOWN MODIFIED QUALIFIER SET FOR ARMADILLO NATIONALS

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (July 23, 2003) – Qualifying berths for two nights of modified stock car racing at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track October 10-11 are on the line during the 12th annual Armadillo Nationals at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas on Friday and Saturday nights, August 1-2.

The IMCA-type modifieds will be competing on the same program as the O’Reilly World of Outlaws sprint cars at the Dirt Track during the Texas Showdown. The modifieds will race both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Armadillo Nationals program at Lone Star will be worth $1,500 to the winner of the modified feature Saturday night. The top 24 drivers in the Armadillo Nationals feature race will earn the right to compete at Texas Motor Speedway during the Texas Showdown.

The modified portion of the Armadillo Nationals will be contested utilizing IMCA-type rules but will be non-sanctioned with no motor claim. Lone Star Speedway rules requiring mufflers on the modified division will be enforced.

Seven classes will compete during the Armadillo Nationals headed by the SUPR late models. The winner of Saturday night’s SUPR Armadillo Nationals race will collect $5,000. For more details about the Armadillo Nationals, go to the Lone Star Speedway website at www.lonestarspeedway.net or call (903) 576-4101.

O’Reilly World of Outlaws title contenders Steve Kinser and Danny Lasoski are expected to carry their year-long battle for the championship to the Texas Showdown. Kinser and Lasoski staged a classic duel in this spring’s U.S. Air Force Showdown at the Dirt Track with Kinser walking away with the victory.

Tickets for the Texas Showdown are on sale daily at the speedway ticket office, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com or at Ticketmaster locations.
