CC_RIDER
i was under the impression that the 25 lapper was to include a couple of transfer spots, why did they run it as a non-qualifier and cut it to 12 laps?
Budman
Nope, the ASA format doesn't allow for that. Personally, I liked the format of the last "Bigshot" race, where only the first 10 qualifiers got into the show. They ran qualifying and 3 heat races on Friday, and a last chance race on Saturday to fill the rest of the field. This has a lot more "fan appeal", and would put more fans in the stand on both nights.
Modracer
They took 2 cars in the last ASA race at Nashville. The rumors through the pit area on Saturday was that it was a promoter option. I also heard the reason why that was implemented was because of the fact that two national tour cars that are scheduled to run all of the races did not make it on time. Pacecar
Back in the old days, it was called the "consolation" feature.
Budman
Yep, And they used to run fewer classes, which put more cars on track in each class. They also ran Trophy Dashes, Australian Pursuits and Consolation races to fill the show. Results .......................... THE STANDS WERE FULL OF RACE FANS! (Talking about the weekly shows.)
