ASCS Gulf South Region Schedule Change

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (March 30, 2006) Opening night for the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region has been reset for next Saturday night, April 8, at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX, as the scheduled April 7 opener at Motorama Speedway in Beaumont, TX, has been cancelled.

Still in the process of making repairs from damage incurred during last September's hurricanes, Motorama Speedway is not yet ready for racing, thus forcing the cancellation. It is expected that the high-banked, ¼-mile gumbo clay oval will be ready well in advance of the ASCS Gulf South Region's next scheduled event there on June 23.

Houston Raceway Park will serve as the launch point for a busy 25-race slate of events for the ASCS Gulf South Region at ten different tracks throughout Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.

In its 15th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing in the United States, the American Sprint Car Series will present approximately 180 nights of racing in 2006 including the National Tour and its Regional Tours (Gulf South, Mid-South, Midwest, Northern Plains, Patriot Sprint Group, Rocky Mountain, Sooner, Southern and Sprints on Dirt).
