What to expect: Last season two eventual Division 4 champions kicked off the season with wins in San Antonio as Slate Cummings (ACCEL DFI Super Stock) and Chris Jackson (Hays Stock) both took Ironmen home from the D4 opener. This season the going will be a little tougher as car counts have been up at Mr. Gasket Pro-Am Tour openers in Division 9 and Division 2. As an added bonus, the season opener will feature a two-race in one weekend format, so plenty of racers will come out to get two shots with just one tow. San Antonio Raceway will have a busy month with an IHRA Junior National event, the Division 4 Pro-Am opener and the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals all slated for the month of March.

“It is going to be a busy month, but things work out well,” Todd Zampese said. “Really, putting all three events together works for us because it gets our whole staff into national event mode by the time March 24 rolls around.”

The Mr. Gasket Pro-Am event will also feature a Saturday evening Texas Hold ‘Em tournament, with $4,000 going to the winner. There will be a $125 fee to enter the poker tournament with a maximum of 100 entries, so make sure to pre-enter. Also, San Antonio Raceway will also provide a place for those who are going to compete in the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals with a place to leave their rigs. Contact Todd at SAR for more details at (830) 914-4646.

Special Programs: Race Tech Free Ride Program- After each Mr. Gasket Pro-AM Tour event on the 2006 schedule one tech card will be randomly selected. That name will go into an end of the season drawing with the winner receiving a $10,000 gift certificate good towards any purchase at Race Tech Race Cars. The second place winner will receive an IHRA Silver Card good for a free car and driver entry to each Mr. Gasket Pro-Am event within his/her division in 2007. ACCEL Survivor Series- The top eight competitors in each of the seven Mr. Gasket Pro-Am Tour events will square off at the World Finals in Rockingham to run off for a total purse of $70,000. To be eligible the competitor must complete the ACCEL Sportsman Survivor Series portion of the IHRA Special Programs Registration form, purchase and install three out of seven eligible Mr. Gasket products (Mr. Gasket Vacuum Pump, Hurst Shifter, Mallory Distributor, Mallory Ignition Control, Mallory Fuel Pump, ACCEL Digital Fuel Injection and ACCEL Spark Plug Wires) and display both the Mr. Gasket Pro-Am Tour and ACCEL Sportsman Survivor Series decal on both sides of the vehicle. Moser Axle Mania- Mr. Gasket Pro-Am Tour drivers who utilize Moser Engineering’s quality line of products are eligible for an all-class shootout to be held during the World Nationals at Norwalk Raceway Park.

2006 Division 4 Mr. Gasket Pro-Am Schedule: San Antonio Raceway (1/4 mile) double race weekend March 10-12; Pine Valley (1/4 mile) double race weekend April 7-9; Tulsa Raceway Park (1/4 mile) double race weekend June 2-4.
