If anyone has any input on a new dirt/asphalt class or series for Texas racing - please email me about it. Tell me what dirt class you think would be the best to do some crossover racing with so it is cost-effective and will not take away from dirt or asphalt but could enhance racing as a whole in 2020. I am thinking maybe 6 races next year? Maybe more if it works - and possibly introduce the class at TSTRS last race this year - Nov 9th? Just possibilities. Please accompany each opinion with a 'why' I have been talking with a few of you, but I am told how there are many others with very strong opinions by the handful I have spoken with. Hey guys! I have totally dropped the ball on utilizing LoneStarSpeedzone.com, and I apologize. One of the most challenging things about promoting TSTRS is communicating with the drivers away from the track. You guys use cell phones, HOME phones, email, LoneStarSpeedzone.com, text messages and Facebook. Not everyone uses Facebook, some only use their cell phone, some don't talk only text, and some us email but forget to check it regularly. That is on my punch list of things to figure out a 'best' solution for! I am not posting this on the tstrseries.com page, because sponsors and fans see that information too. This is more of an after the first race update of info and status for the teams, drivers and racing family. So if anyone knows someone that only uses Facebook, please share this with them somehow for me. Race Day was absolutely crazy, from about 10 minutes after we arrived until we walked the last fan out to his car. To say the day controlled us more than we controlled it would be a huge understatement. But, on Sunday morning my household felt very appreciative. Exhausted, humbled and appreciative. Which brings me to the point of this post - to tell you guys thank you for getting behind this. Thank you for the positive environment. Thank you for sharing posts, liking posts, coming out to events, participating in events, listening in on the shows, liking sponsor pages, liking their posts, shopping sponsors - just on helping every effort we put forth, out. Just helping out in any way you can, even if it meant coming to watch the race or liking Facebook pages. Every little thing matters. Those little things are what a company like Advance Auto Parts sees directly. If you cannot make it out to the track to support racing, make a commitment to support racing by supporting our sponsors. But when you support them, you tell them why you are supporting them too! All of this adds up, and all of it helps us race more often. Good Monday morning everyone! What a race day! I must say that as my first race promoting, it was exhausting, but in a good way. I am very humbled to be able to promote a sport I have been around my entire life. I still have a lot to learn, but I look forward to the next race - which is Saturday, August 31st. My plan was to put it by the other bathrooms but the connections there would not hold it there. I will be doing this until we can get the bathrooms in the pits right for you guys. We did fix up the concession bathrooms, and I know it was hot but the more you can walk to the fan concessions & bathrooms in your driver's suit, the more it helps the fans engage with racing too! If I did not get to see you, I apologize. I chased my tail some of the day but, this great TSTRS team did a great job! Brad Bush & Tiffany Vogel & Rodney Rodriguez are the bomb and helped me keep things flowing with the crowd and in the pits. We had racing done by 9:40pm and the big fireworks show by 10pm. That was a big goal for us, and very much needed to keep this a family experience!! I will be putting the TSTRS rules up on the website - www.tstrseries.com later today. These are exactly the same as what the T-STARS rules are currently. Now, I know some of you guys pointed out some things we need to look at - and we will. But right now, we are focused on the July race and making that happen. I hope if the current TSTAR rules have kept you from competing, you will at least come and contribute to racing by being a fan! After the July race, we are looking at what we need to modify, change or address. Here is the purse for the first Texas Short Track Racing Series race. Saturday, July 6th - Houston Motorsports Park Advance Auto Parts added an 'AAP Fast 6 $1000' twist to the Pro Truck race and is looking forward to seeing some trucks at their stores in the next two weeks at events. I am still looking for a couple of trucks to do appearances in the next two weeks. I do not have dates yet, will be this weekend before I know them. Send your info to me or Taylor if you can commit to a two-hour event, with the driver and Pro Truck spit-shined.{ taylor@tstrseries.com } Additionally, AAP is paying $$ on the Pro Truck heats. It was a beautiful day for the Tailpipes & Tacos event held at Lupe Tortilla's on Grand Parkway in Katy. We were there supporting one of TSTRS Sponsors - In Wheel Time, which airs every Saturday on ESPN 97.5 and simultaneously on their Facebook Page - facebook.com/InWheelTime. They featured driver of the #7 TSTRS Pro Truck, Zoey Barker on the broadcast (see below). We also had Mike Mecum out representing with his #74 TSTRS Eco Stock car. Hey HMP/TSTRS Race Teams! If you are interested in some signage around the perimeter of the track let me know. The image of the track below, from pole to pole horizontally it is 12.5' - 13.5' apart. These signs will be a banner material and will be 8.5' tall and 18' - 24' wide. We are working with a sign company now to determine that. They will be up for the July 6th Advance Auto Parts Firecracker Blowout through July 2020. There is a $250 production cost, and the sign is $1000. I know that is a lot, and if you get any push back from your sponsors when trying to sell them because well, we are a risk - then I will invoice them quarterly for the cost of the sign, $250 each payment. But up front, they have to pay a $250 production fee plus the first payment of $250. The production cost covers design and (1) change out during the year if needed. I will make sure we keep them looking fresh. NOW- if you are a race team or a driver and this sign is a sponsor of your race team on your race car, uniforms or hauler I will give you back $100 every time they make a payment including the first one. Now I will say this, I am not going to chase your sponsor for money if they do not pay their invoice. I will take the sign down before any race if they are behind on payments. I do electronic invoicing, they click to pay it with any credit card. After the year, they can have the sign. I have a minimal amount of signs I can afford to do this on, so let me know quickly. These are the signs that our wonderful Race Announcer - Rodney Rodriguez will be talking about during your race - because he will know which signs go with which class/drivers etc. These are also the signs the track photographer can snap a picture of your race car in front of to give to your sponsors to show off. Have you seen his pictures? They are great! You can park your race car, team, hauler, etc in front of the sign and take pictures for hero cards, whatever you need to do to make it worth your sponsors' investment, I will work with you to make happen. Please note: I do have some current sponsor exclusivities that can impact what companies I can display, so email me the details if you are interested. How I came about these guys is when Don Armstrong (Airborne Reporter & Videographer for Ch 13) came to the Meyer Speedway Reunion because he got hooked on racing in the Playland Park days. This man loves asphalt circle track racing just like we do, and I was very lucky to come across him. He has been a huge help to me from when Raymond & The Hogans started the racing back up.
