  1. I remember in like 1984 SAS had a claim rule for the street stocks, I think it was $500-1500 something but you claimed and you got the whole damn car.

Terry Brooks had been dominating SA and Austin all year in an old red nova... one night at SA Brooks was running a little off, not winning and into turn 3 of the last lap the motor let go and he had to coast around. Damn the luck a fellow competitor had claimed the car and got to take that broken down nova back to their garage,.... damn the luck. don't think we ever saw that car again. Brooks showed up in a borrowed Cantrell nova and still won the title. Good times. Anyone else remember that and remember the other driver? I'll let y'all guess.

  2. Going to tell to tell you all this event was a big step for HMP and paved racing in Texas. Billed "Mid Season Championship Night" which brings back lots of memories was a great start.

Car counts climbed nicely for this one, a $1500 to win and at one point having Rick Pollaro, Grant Thompson, Jake Wright and Memphis Villarreal as the top 4 is impressive. A modified class that had been pretty shallow pulled a stronger field, the staples Eco Stocks and Legacys did what they do and get cars there. Outlaw/LM/Street Stock was stronger and I'll be damn 3 more Bootleggers came.

More impressive weather here was hot and we knew what was coming, so did the fans. YET they showed and stayed and this show ran like a dirt show and paved shows up North. 6:45 start, done at 9p. Weather went crazy at 9:30p but still the fans stayed. Even more impressive the track saying ok, here's the cards let's change the game and still get it done. Impressive AF.

This is going to work because I don't think team will let it fail and team I mean all involved from the top down. July 1 is the next one I think that one is going to be really, really good.

  3. Sr always laughed it off like Ross does. It was cool then. Totally uncalled for, you throw Bubba out you have to thrown this dude out. Not to mention now they can check his driver data. Go get it LaJoie.

  4. But then you look at dirt, plenty of Mods, Sport Mods.. regular fan says they look alike. Plenty of I-Stocks, and Factory. Regular fan says they look alike lol. That is what I like about for example the Waco Outlaw SS and Mary Ann's Street Stocks, hybrid as shit and every lookin kind of car.

I am a huge fan of the Jr Lmtd concept especially if those kiddos which they all seem to, have aspirations to move up and race a sport mod. Waco has produced some bad ass drivers out of that class those kiddos are driving what they will be racing moving forward in a learning package, that's genius.

  5. a bomber class is needed, this crown vic thing we were doing 15 years ago around here that is a great option. keep the rules stock, keep the drop down drivers out of it, 2 biggest issues, win a title move up. 4 cylinder class is the new bomber just due to availability right now as long as they don't let them become a Texas Pro Sedan with advancements if you want a true stock class.

If we are talking Texas and paved, cut the classes, too many it has been that way the last decade and a half. It's a no win, get rid of a class and 10 people come out of the woodwork that were going to be ready for the next race lol.

I'd say and again this is just my thought:

Trucks, Mods, a factory stock type class, 4 cylinder, bomber type, Outlaw. For fans, they all look different and it's easy to follow.

Others, cycle them in as "guests" and if low counts keep on you get to run early as "pre race" .

  6. Agree if you want to be at the track you go. If you don't now you can still intake it. I will say to get people to the track streamlining the show and eliminating downtime and non racing shit is more important than streaming worries.

Smooth, efficient and entertaining on track shows are a hell of a lot more entertaining than dead time. Dead time, Dead Air.. not good even on the stream.

  7. Agree, I love streaming I've done it since nobody knew what it was. BUT to Nick's point maybe this does get people to track? Although a $50 package for all races is a hell of a lot cheaper than traveling lol.
