The classes running on Aug 27th are:

Dwarfs

Street Stocks - "South Texas Street Stock Challenge"

Limited Modifieds - "Aaron Hudgeons Memorial Race"

Going to be a lot of cars from out of town coming in for this one.

Come out a be a part, I believe they will be selling T-shirts in memory of Aaron and the proceeds will go to the Aaron Hudgeons Memorial Scholarship Fund.

They gave two $500 scholarships to two deserving students last year.

Eric Corpus (a friend of Aaron's growing up) with Big Dog Racing is bringing $100 to this race. He will be awarding his $100 as a Hard Luck Award to the A Main starter who finishes 24th (last). So, 24th will get their start money of $100 plus $100 from Eric Corpus with Big Dog racing. Eric will award this direct from him to the 24th finisher at the end of the night. Thank you Eric and Big Dog Racing

I have some major news. This news is major because it reminds us of how the dirt track family stretches beyond just one track. Today, I received one of the most heartwarming calls a person could receive. Owen Pitmann, who operates South Texas Speedway called and advised he wanted to put money towards the Memorial Race and the Scholarship Fund.

South Texas Speedway is sponsoring $50 each to the highest placing non-qualifiers into the A-Main. For example, 14 will be qualified on time trials. The remaining 10 will race up thru one or two B's. If one B, the 11th and 12th place finishers will get $50 each sponsored by South Texas Speedway. If two B's, the 6th place finisher in each B will get $50 each.

Secondly, South Texas Speedway is donating $200 to the Aaron Hudgeons Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mr. Pittman is sending that direct to the scholarship organizers.

This speaks volumes about Owen and the person he is. What a family we have in dirt tr!ack racing!! Thank you Owen and thank you South Texas Speedway for both of these generous acts.

It is starting to look like anyone who show up for this race will have chance at various bonus awards... And, here is the latest...

$200 to the 15th fastest car on time trials sponsored by The Corpus "C" Cars.. (basically, this creates a nice award for the car that just barely falls out of qualifying straight into the A Main on time trials and will have to race some more given the first 14 on time will be taken straight to the A Main).

This is pretty cool I think because it is pretty dejecting to miss going straight to the A Main by one spot from time trials, and suddenly you feel better because you have a nice consolation prize and a chance to still make more money if you race on up and get in the A Main.

Thank you Corpus "C" Cars....

Last years winner of the 1st Annual Aaron Hudgeons Memorial Race was Steve Whiteaker Jr. Steve Jr. will not be able to attend this year's event, but he wanted to be there in spirit. So, Steve Jr. is sponsoring a $150 Longest Tow Award. This will be determined at the drivers meeting, so you have to be in attendance at the drivers meeting to be eligible for the award.

what tires are legal for this race?

and how many cars were in attendance at last years race?

They allow Hoosier tires only. Either H500 or IMCA stamped 500 tire. They will Durometer the tires.

Hard tires only. We are expecting 40+ cars. At least 35. I believe that was what they had last year.

But the response for this year has been even bigger.

Hope this helps. See yall at the track!!

The info above is correct. Someone is staying on top of things! Lol.

IMCA Southern SportMod rules and hard Hoosier tires, either IMCA 500 or "H500" tires.

And yes we will check them by Durometer.

If you have any questions, please PM me.

Thank you for your interest, hope to see you soon.

So,,,,, How about a roll call for a few who may be coming to this race. I would expect Dustin to come back and try his hand at a repeat win for the big money after winning on the 13th. How about #26g JJ? What other STS shoes are headed to this? How about #66, Johnny T., and other I-37 Limited pilots? Anyone have the inside line on any Houston names? Current TRP regulars including points leader Jensen Pray should be on hand, along with GW "highside" Hessong, Mickey "the racers friend" Helms, Adam "Plum Crazy" Perks, Vince "Shiner's own" Louden, Eric Floyd and a host of others. Anyway, interested who may be on hand for this tremendous show.

Received a call this morning from a sponsor who request to remain anonymous. This sponsor is adding $300 to 2nd place and $200 to 3rd place. This effectively makes 2nd a total of $1,200 to take home and 3rd place $1,000 to take home.

The track has already prepared all of their pay envelopes and sealed them, so these two additions to 2nd and 3rd place will be in separate envelopes and attached with the original sealed pay envelope..

Hot dang, the phone keeps lighting up, and that's a good thing. Picked up two more sponsorships for limiteds this morning, and I've amended the original post on this thread to reflect those.

The following additional special awards have been added to the pot:

$400 value Dale Earnhardt Jr. diecast car to Limited Mod feature winner from Pray Racing. This is the #3 Oreo car that Jr. drove in memory of his dad right after his dad was killed.

Four $50 gift cards to O'Reilly's thanks to Mr. Art Rodriguez. To be awarded from random drawing to four non-A Main qualifiers in limiteds.

Thank you to Pray Racing and O'Reilly's for these great additions

Is grooving allowed?

66 will be there

Yes. Must be IMCA500 or H500, but grooving is allowed

is that anytime or just for this race

This race only. Out of town tracks it is legal for them. We are allowing it so they do not have to buy new tires for this event.
