Bendele Captures Oktober"Fast" Pole

By: Pat Mayberry

Texas Super Racing Series car owner, David White, called on longtime friend

and former San Antonio Speedway Champion, NASCAR Sunbelt Champion and ROMCO

Super Late Model Champion Brandon Bendele to help him figure out what was

wrong with is ride. Despite battling a problem with the car being loose off

the corner all day, Bendele was consistently fast in practice and took home

his first Texas Super Racing Series pole with a fast time of 19.681.

"Our last couple times out the car just hasn't been where we wanted it to

be," explained White about the reasons behind Bendele taking the driver's

seat. "We thought with this not being a points night we could let Brandon

get in it and do some experimenting with it and see if he could figure out

what was wrong. It has been fast, but it just hasn't felt right."

Wearing the owner's hat was a new experience for White. "I'm a little more

nervous being the owner than the driver. I know what Brandon can do and I

want to win one of these things," added White. "He got a pretty good lap

for it to be on the pole. It's looking like a good night and almost nobody

has more laps around here."

White was nervous that when it came time to roll for the field inversion

that the number one would pop up causing the whole field to be inverted.

Like some sort of psychic, White proved he could see the future and Bendele

did in fact roll a one, forcing him to start at the back. When asked

about the car and track conditions, Bendele said, "It's been real loose.

We've been tightening it up all day. We'll take one more stab at it and see

what it does. The track will be cooling down and the engines will run a lot

better."
