abrungot
OK.. Help me understand this… Jr. gets 40th place and takes home $118,983.00 While Vickers gets 6th place and only gets $109,875.00 This doesn’t make sense to me??
tqj3
Aaron- There are a number of factors that go into figuring the purse payouts for NASCAR races, and it's about as confusing as the tax code... I think one factor is how the team did in points last season, but I'm not sure. Bottom line: it isn't just the finishing position, it's who finishes there. I haven't looked at the win/loss comparison, but I would imagine it also has to do with payout structure. You may have one driver with a consistant 10th place finish, and another with a consistant 30th place, but the consistant 30th place driver may win 2 races and take home 2 much larger purses than the other driver's 10th place purses put together... hope that's as clear as mud. Stak
NASCAR.com tries to explain it on the site, but it reads pretty confusing. It has alot to do with the sponsors that they have and brands that they use and and all those small decals they run near the front wheel well.
