thr_spectator
I recently put an edelbrock 600cfm(1406) on this new motor and it ran good for the first couple days, now when it starts up/idling...or if you give it alot of throttle it starts putting out white/grayish smoke.....could the carb be loading up? running rich maybe?...ive asked around about it and everyone seems to think its the valvestem seals.(the heads were just redone with new seals) ......any input would be nice
Pacecar
What type of valve seals are they? The "O" ring type, or the umbrella? If it is the O ring type, perhaps the seals were installed improperly. The O ring is installed AFTER the valve spring is compressed. If it is installed BEFORE, then the O ring is damaged. Could be the intake manifold not sealing. Maybe the manifold ends (where you usually use silicone) are against the block (no gap for a seal). The can happen with milled heads. If you have milled heads, then the ends of the manifold need to milled. The manifold could be leaking on the bottom side of the gaskets, and sucking up oil. This happens when the heads are milled, but the intake side of the heads were NOT milled to restore the correct intake manifold fit.
