Tip-off time was 7:30 PM for USG night at San Antonio Speedway this past Saturday AND as the NASCAR players bounced onto the track; the fans came off the bench to cheer for their favorites.

In the 15-lap NASCAR Road Runner feature event, Ken Jones started on the pole followed by Leland Frautschi, Richard Curtis and George Reyes. When the green flag was displayed, L. Frautschi shot into the lead. On Lap 2, Reyes took aim at the top spot and hit it in Turn 3. As time ticked down, Reyes didn't have the Spurs coyote chasing him; instead it was Randy Frautschi and points' leader Mark Mathias. With just two laps remaining, L. Frautschi fouled out when smoke and oil dribbled from his racecar. At the conclusion of this race, Reyes found himself in the lane...victory lane, that is! The next contenders to cross the stripe were R. Frautschi, Mathias, J.D. Votion and Curtis.

Thirteen NASCAR Sportsman drivers were revved up and ready to provide some high-octane excitement. Paired together on the front row were Robert Mayberry and David Schooman followed by Steven Ramzinski, Tater Mason and Keith Garrett. Mayberry jumped into the lead with Ramzinski right on his heels. On Lap 2, Ramzinski pushed it a little too hard and spun between Turns 1 and 2. This caused Charles Earnhardt to travel...right into Ramzinski, and then into the pits. On the restart, holding on to the lead proved to be difficult for both Mayberry and Mason, as Greg Rohmer motored past them. The racing action heated up intensely on Lap 8, when the #1 position was wide-open and Rohmer, Mason, Eric Knudtson and Justin Oates were all shooting for it. Somehow, Knudtson netted it with Oates right behind him. Less than half a lap later, Mason and Rohmer tangled near Turn 3, forcing Rohmer to throw in the towel. The remainder of the race was ran under green flag conditions with Knudtson putting his third win of the year in the basket. Oates rebounded from a mishap in his heat race to finish in the runner-up position followed by Tom Casey, Mayberry and Danny Markgraf Sr.

In the NASCAR Women on Wheels feature event, Mona Turner prevailed over Stacy Votion and Missy Jones. Turner and her crew were also honored as FASCAR's team of the month during intermission.

The final event of the evening was the NASCAR Late Model division. The top six qualifiers drew for their starting positions. The points' leader, Robert Barker drew the No. 6. James Cole drew the coveted No. 1. However, due to a problem with a hose on his helmet prior to the start of the race, Cole was relegated to the back of the pack. The starting line-up consisted of defending LM champion Larry Bendele followed by Donny Horelka, Joe Aramendia, Mark Ackerman and Barker. There was a quick yellow flag on the first lap for debris (Aramendia's front quarter panel) on the track. Bendele, who is running a limited schedule, quickly made his presence known as he took the lead and held it for most of the race. On Lap 17, Barker was on the offense and moved into the second spot. Halfway through the event, Bendele was still showing the way with Barker, Horelka and Aramendia within shouting distance. With 8 laps remaining, the caution lights lit up when Michael Lampton spun coming off Turn 2, and Todd Farris also spun to avoid contact. There was a key turnover on the restart when Bendele had a tire going down and Barker assumed the point. On Lap 40, Barker performed his own rendition of the pick and roll---he picked up a trophy when he rolled in to victory circle. Chasing Barker to the checkers were Horelka, Aramendia, Cole and Ackerman. Bendele ended up in the tenth position.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
