TPS and TSRS at Thunder Hill Raceway on June 18th

The Texas Pro Sedans will hold the fifth 2005 event of their 30th consecutive racing season at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Texas on Saturday night June 18th. The event will be the third of eight TPS series races hosted by Thunder Hill Raceway during the 2005 racing season.

 

The Texas Pro Sedans racing format will consist of 2 laps of Qualifying Time Trials at approximately 6:00pm followed by a 25 Lap Feature Race for the four cylinder Texas Pro Sedan series stock cars.

 

The Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS) will headline the racing program with a 100 lap race.

 

A field of 30 TPS drivers have filed their entry for the June 18th special event. Included in the race entry list are all four drivers who have won the four TPS races during the 2005 season:

 

> Sergio Hexsel of San Antonio won the fourth race of the TPS season at Thunder Hill Racewayon May 28. Hexsel will again be at the controls of his race winning #20 VW Rabbit. The win elevated Hexsel to third place in Texas Pro Sedans point standings nearing midway in the TPS season.

 

> Jesse Sandoval of Corpus Christi won the third race of the TPS season at San Antonio Speedway on May 14. He will bring his sleek #7 Ford Pinto to Thunder Hill Raceway on June 18th.

 

> Jack Dishman of Devine, Texas will drive his #2 Ford Mustang. His last TPS victory came atThunder Hill Raceway on May 7th. Dishman is currently sixth in TPS point standings..

 

> Donnie Moore of Hutto will again be in the drivers seat of the George Merrell #70 VW Scirocco. He won the first race of the TPS season at C.C. Motor Speedway on April 9th. Moore’s last race was at THR on May 28 in which he placed second in the same car that was part of a major three car crash, the worst incident in 30 years of Texas Pro Sedans racing in which three cars were wrecked.

 

In addition, the two top TPS drivers in points standings have filed their entrys. The point leader, Lalo Leal of Corpus Christi will pilot his Ford Mustang. Holding down second place in the standings is six time TPS Champion Bill LaBarge of Bryan. He will compete in his familiar #27 BMW.

 

A large field of car makes are expected to participate ie: BMW, VW Scirocco, VW Rabbit, 2005 VW, VW Sedan (air cooled), VW Karmen Ghia, Chevrolet Cobalt, Ford Mustang, Probe and Pinto, Ford/Mazda, Honda CRX, Dodge Neon and Datsun 510.

 

A full racing program featuring the TSRS 100 will headline the race program together with Thunder Hill Raceway Hobby Stock, Street Stock and Grand Stocks. They are all scheduled to compete on June 18th at the 3/8 mile asphalt Thunder Hill Raceway, D shaped oval in Kyle, Texas.
