BobbyChaffee
I found this pic on the net. The caption said that it was Freddie Fryar. Does anyone know where this pic was taken?
see86go
Just a guess, but could it be Milwaukee? Years ago, Milwaukee had the words "No Smoking in Pits" written along the front straight wall, and it looks like whatever is written on that wall ends with "ts". elliottfan
I found this pic on the net. The caption said that it was Freddie Fryar. Does anyone know where this pic was taken? To me that looks a bunch like Milwaukee. When did Freddy ever race at Milwaukee? Maybe one of those combined ASA/AllPro events? And that's a Howe Camaro, not one of his regular rides
txtom
Fryar ran Milwaukee a few times in ASA and USAC. This race is the Superamerica 150 held May 7, 1978. He fell out early with overheating. If you look at the front wheel, you can see old-school solid wide-five hubs. This was ASA; All Pro was not around yet. This was a borrowed car, as he was running the Novas in the south that year. Edit to add: This was a Sunday afternoon event, and Fryar was not at San Antonio Saturday. Fryar was the 1978 Late Model Champ at San Antonio, but he did not run every week that year. There are several nights he skipped to run somewhere else. On this particular weekend, while Fryar was in Milwaukee, there were only a half dozen Late Models at San Antonio, where John Rezek won the feature. Fryar also raced USAC events at Milwaukee in 1975 for Bert Anderson, and again in July 1978 for G.W. Pierce Auto Parts.
