NickHolt
A great deal of wishful thinking surrounded these two racing enterprises. We all know the sad history of Ishin's and Dr. Respess' involvement at TWS and its ultimate fate, But less known is the story of the ill-fated Lone Star Motorsports Park. While I make no accusations, the folks behind the proposal had attempted to gain financial backing for at least two other magnificent racing facilities, one in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the other somewhere in Mississippi to be known as Mississippi Motorsports Park. Since we have never read of either of these two tracks, nor do we race at Lone Star Motorsports Park, it seems safe to assume whatever attempts Race Marking Associates made to fund these three facilities failed. One is left to wonder, however, whatever happened to the funds, if any, that were raised by this group. It must have been some money involved since the proposed Lone Star Motorsports Park was their third venture. If the Race Marketing Associates business model seems familiar, recall the efforts of one Donald Teague to raise money to build multiple NASCAR quality tracks throughout the Lone Star State a decade, or so, later. As racers we get all excited when we hear of wonderful new places to feed our racing addiction. Unfortunately, we fall for it way too often.
