Inaugural Chi-Town Showdown features two complete $10,000-to-win shows

- $20,000-to-win over two nights at stake for World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models Oct. 13-14  at the Dirt Oval @ Route 66

 CONCORD, NC- October 3, 2017-The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series invades the greater Chicago area and the Dirt Oval @ Route 66 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14, in Joliet, Ill., for the inaugural two-day Chi-Town Showdown.

 

The Chi-Town Showdown will feature back-to-back nights of complete $10,000-to-win events. The two separate shows at the Dirt Oval @ Route 66 will showcase the top Dirt Late Model racers from around the country battling the stars of the Midwest.

 

To fully focus all efforts toward the originally scheduled Chi-Town Showdown, June's postponed Outlaw Clay Classic has been canceled. Fans with tickets from the canceled June event can reuse their tickets at Friday night's race, and drivers who had qualified for the June event are guaranteed starting positions in Friday night's 50-lap A-main.

 

Series leader Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., is riding a three-win hot streak from the Outlaws' recent run through the Great Plains. Sheppard has powered to 17 victories this season, which ties him with Darrell Lanigan for second on the all-time single-season win list as he tries to break the record of 18 set by Josh Richards in 2016. With two opportunities at the Chi-Town Showdown, Sheppard could either tie or break the record in front of his home state fans.

 

"We are excited for this inaugural event at the Dirt Oval @ Route 66," World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series director Chris Dolack said. "Sherri Heckenast and her team have worked hard to revitalize the dirt track there, and we're hoping the fans from around the Midwest come out and support these shows."

 

"I'm looking forward to having a huge event with two complete races over two days at the Dirt Oval @ Route 66," Sherri Heckenast said. "The challenges with mixing in the postponed race from June were varied and ultimately it's best to give the fans and competitors two complete full exciting race nights."

 

DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Sportsman classes will join the field on Friday night while DIRTcar Sportsman and Street Stocks will compete on Saturday night.
