USMTS $10,000-to-win finale Nov. 3-5 at 81 Speedway

PARK CITY, Kan. (Oct. 27) -- The 2016 racing season for the USMTS, which began the second week of February, comes to a thrilling conclusion next Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 3-5, with the inaugural $10,000-to-win Chisholm Trail Showdown at the 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.

The event will pit the best of the best of the United States Modified Touring Series and the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA). Saturday's main event winners will walk away with no less than $10,000 while every starter in the championship feature gets at least $1,000.

The format is like the King of America held each March. Modified drivers will run four heat races from four different starting positions on Thursday and Friday. USMTS passing points will be combined using the best three of four efforts with the top 12 drivers in overall points locked into the first six rows of Saturday's "A" Main. The next 12 drivers will be locked into Saturday's "B" Main, the next 12 into the "C" Main and so forth.

B-Mods will share the spotlight with a complete program of heat and feature races each night. The winner Thursday' gets $600, Friday night's winner will earn $1,000 and the winner Saturday will go home with $1,500.

An open practice will be held Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 7-10 p.m. Pit passes are $20 and admission to the grandstands is free for all spectators.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. each day. Spectator tickets on Thursday and Friday are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $5 for kids ages 6-10. On Saturday, adult tickets are $25, seniors are $23 and kids get in for $10. Three-day passes are $55 for adults and $50 for seniors. Children 5 and under get in for free all three days. Pit passes are $40 each night or $110 for a three-day pit pass.

Special three-day discount tickets are available now by calling the 81 Speedway at (316) 755-1781.

The USMTS has circled the 81 Speedway eight times previously, with six different drivers picking up wins. Jeremy Payne won in 2013 and again in 2015, and Rodney Sanders picked up a win in both the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.

Three-time USMTS national Jason Hughes champion topped the first visit to C. Ray Hall's speedplant back in 2008. While Hughes announced that he will not be at the Chisholm Trail Showdown event, Ryan Gustin is slated to be behind the wheel of the familiar yellow and blue #12 Hughes Chassis.

Gustin, who won the USMTS Hunt for the Casey's Cup event here in August, drove Hughes' car to a win in last weekend's USRA Fall Nationals at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M.

Stormy Scott finished second to Gustin in that race, and picked up a USMTS victory at the 81 Speedway during the 2014 season. Cade Dillard won here back on June 9.

Drivers are encouraged to enter early to save money. Early entry for Modifieds is $150 and B-Mods are $50 for all three days. Beginning Nov. 1, the price doubles for both classes. Call (515) 832-7944 to eget entered today, or download the entry form at www.usmts.com/downloads.
