USRA National Championships this week at Lakeside Speedway, Oct 13-15

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 12) -- The 3rd Annual USRA National Championships take place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 13-15, at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., and for those unable to be there in person you don't have to miss a lap.

The United States Racing Association's fall classic in the center of America's heartland will feature USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks as they take part in heat races and main events each night.

USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will compete all three nights while USRA Hobby Stocks join the card for Friday and Saturday.

Every day, every division and every lap of the 3rd Annual USRA National Championships will be broadcast live via pay-per-view by RacinDirt.com. Be sure to visit www.racindirt.com for ordering information today.

Drivers will duke it out on Thursday and Friday with combined points earned for both nights (Friday only for USRA Hobby Stocks) setting the line-ups for Saturday's championship events.

Each night will be a complete show of heat races and main events, with USRA national points awarded each night. No track points are awarded at any USRA Member Track during the three-day event, and USRA national points are awarded at this event only.

Sweetening the pot for competitors at the 3rd Annual USRA National Championships is the "True Car Count Bonus" awarded to drivers in each class all three nights. On any given night at USRA-sanctioned events around the country, each driver is awarded bonus points equal to the car count with a maximum of 24 points for car counts of 24 or more.

However, at the USRA National Championships next week, each driver will earn a car count bonus equal to the actual car count with no maximum. Therefore, if 60 Holley USRA Stock Cars are racing one night then each driver in that class will get 60 bonus points toward his or her nightly total. This could have a huge impact on the tight USRA national points battles in all four divisions.

On Wednesday, the pit gate will open at noon and pre-race technical inspections will be open immediately thereafter. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. An open practice for drivers in all classes will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until at least 9 p.m., weather permitting. Admission to the grandstands is free. Pit passes are $20 each for everybody 11 and older or $10 for kids 6-10 years old. This will be the only night for hot laps unless needed briefly on one of the other three nights to shape and work in the track.

Thursday and Friday will feature heat races and main events all classes. Drivers will draw for heat race line-ups and passing points will be used to determine feature race line-ups.

USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Car and Out-Pace USRA B-Mod will be racing for the following "A" Main payout both Thursday and Friday: 1. $500, 2. $400, 3. $300, 4. $200, 5. $170, 6. $150, 7. $140, 8. $130, 9. $120, 10. $110, 11. $105, 12. $100, 13. $95, 14. $90, 15. $85, 16. $80, 17. $75, 18-24. $75.
