PASS South cancels July 30 East Carolina Motor Speedway event - Looking ahead to South Boston as next event on schedule

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 27) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials, along with representatives of East Carolina Motor Speedway, announced today that the PASS South Super Late Model event scheduled for Saturday, July 30 has been cancelled.

After long deliberation, PASS and East Carolina Motor Speedway officials have agreed, for the health of Super Late Model racing in the Carolinas as a whole, it is best to move ahead and look towards the future. While the East Carolina event was announced last November, two months prior to the release of any other schedules, both parties have agreed that this is the right decision. PASS South will be back in action again for 150 laps on Saturday, August 13 at South Boston Speedway, while East Carolina Motor Speedway will continue with a full slate of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing on July 30.

“We felt that it was in everybody’s interest to go ahead and remove this event from the schedule so everyone can focus and plan for the remaining races in 2016,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “The folks at East Carolina have been great to work with and it’s unfortunate that we will not be able to go there due to actions out of our control. We wish East Carolina nothing but success and hope to work with them again in the near future.”

Following the PASS South Super Late Model event at South Boston Speedway, the series will move to Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 24. The PASS South and PASS National Super Late Model champions will be crowned as part of the 14th Annual North-South Shootout on November 3-5.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and Modifieds, boasting such marquee events as the legendary HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South’s Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.
