NickHolt
Need a little help on what springs, shocks, ride height, etc, to run on a CCMS super street. Also, a starting point on weight percentages for scaleing. Car is a 77 or 78 Camaro. Thanks. Weight: General rule of thumb: run as light as the rules allow; run as much left side weight as the rules will allow; place any ballast as low in the car as you can get it; run about 50-50 front to rear weight percentage (maybe just a touch rear heavy, like 50.5%). Ride Height: As low as the rules allow. Most Camaros seem to run OK at about four inches. You might want to put the left side a half-inch lower than the right side and the front about a half inch lower than the rear. Springs all depends on your weight distribution, the roll center heights you will be running, the center of gravity height, the motion ratio squared of the springs at that particular corner of the car and about a thousand other variables. The trend these days is towards running a big front sway bar and soft suspension springs. Hopefully some of the CCMS Camaro teams will share what springs they run to put you in the ballpark. Doubt too many teams are going to tell you the exact shocks they are running though. Nick Holt
MadRacing19
You should talk to #34 Greg Carlucci Jr. ,#88 Tommy Wynd , #91 Steve Grantz or #99 Kyle Carter they all have pretty damn fast cars.I know the rear springs are 175 and 200's and the front go anywhere from 800/900 combo to 900/1100. We have had good luck with 175rr-200lr -900lr-1000rf. When it comes to shocks it's all going to depend if your going to run stock mounted or the Fixed bearing type. Good luck. The Shrimp
Here are some ballpark ride height #'s LF 3 3/4 - 4 1/4, LR 4 1/4 - 4 3/4, RF 4 3/4 - 5 1/4, RR 5 1/2 - 6. These should get you in the right area. Cross weight depends on Tires, With the Hoosier 970's we went down to 48-49%, with street tires 51-54%. MadRacing19
Steve, How do you get you measurements? Do you do it at low tide or just wait for a really calm day? Do you have to be in a "NO WAKE ZONE" or what ?
