Casey Smith takes DCRST finale at CTS

Kyle, Texas (November 10, 2014) - Casey Smith (80) climbed aboard one of the Rusty Young's Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas cars and drove away from the field to sweep the 2014 season finale on Saturday at Central Texas Speedway in Kyle, Texas. With the season championship settled the group converged in force 17 strong for a non points event and the action was just as fast and furious as the Wild Side Tour has produced throughout the season. Smith went to the top of the field and did not look but behind him the series regulars sliced and diced during the 25 lap main event.

The cool conditions played a factor as drivers struggled with grip and getting heat in the tires and the rain during the week also provided a green race track and in some spots slippery conditions from mud

being thrown up on the surface. When the dust settled Jerry Young (18), Rusty Young (88), Danny Davis (7) and Ryan Stoy (20) rounded out the top 5. The bottom half of the top 10 were Butch Havelka (27), Rodney Rodriguez (28), Matt Goulais (39), Kevin Hubbard (3) and Mike McClemore (44). J Young and Smith were heat race winners.

Sunday DCRST honored the season champions and recognized special award winners at the annual banquet and meeting at CTS in the Car Bar. Butch Havelka was recognized and awarded with season championship along with runner-up Dwain Groff and Third place finisher Arden Vikre. Chase Havely finished fourth in the final standings and was awarded DCRST Rookie of the Year. Dwain Groff was selected by the group as Sportsman of the Year.

The 2015 season schedule is in development and will be released soon. The Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas would like to thanks Central Texas Speedway, Corpus Christi Speedway, South Texas Speedway and Houston Motorsports Park for hosting the series in 2014 and looks forward to returning to many of these facilities in 2015. DCRST would also like to thank race fans around Texas for their continued support of the series. DCRST looks forward to an even more exciting 2015 Wild Side Tour.
