Better late than never for Rusty Young at CC Speedway

 

Corpus Christi, TX (August 25,, 2014) - Rusty Young (88) was a busy man on Saturday. So much so that he missed all of Saturday's practice sessions at Corpus Christi Speedway. It did not not matter, though, as the Helotes driver made it to the track and proceeded to sweep the nights events in Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas action with a main event win as well as the heat race victory.

 

Young made his way to the front of the pack and led what was a great race behind him. The field raced nose to tail the duration of the event that was slowed by two caution flags.

 

In hot pursuit of Young and rounding out the top 5 were Dwain Groff (14), Arden Vikre (72), Kevin Hubbard (3) and Chris Silvas (85).

 

Rodney Rodriguez (28) picked up the other heat win as the DCRST wrapped up their 2014 race events at CC Speedway.

 

With the completion of the 13th race of 17 in 2014, the series moves into the FINAL 4 that will decide the points championship.

 

Top runners Butch Havelka (27) and Billy Groff (30) had rough nights at CC opening the door for Dwain Groff - who sat 3rd in the standings going in to the event - to make a charge. And his runner-up finish did indeed make it very interesting at the top of the heap.

 

DCRST also drops the 2 lowest point night per driver as the FINAL 4 starts, so the true Chase for the Championship has commenced.

The Wild Side Tour takes a week off and springs back to life Saturday September 6th at Central Texas Speedway for A-Line Auto Parts Night at the Races and the Bud Concert Series with Bleu Edmonson.

Heat races and a big feature race will cap the night off DCRST before a two week lay off and return trip to the dirt track at South Texas Speedway on September 27.
