Midwest Indoor Racing Series Third Season To Start On Friday-Saturday, November 28-29th At Kellogg Arena - 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend to kick off 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season in Battle Creek, Michigan

 

Troy, Michigan (Friday, August 15, 2014): Motor City Race Promotions, the new entity that now owns and operates the Midwest Indoor Racing Series has been working non-stop since taking over operations of the series in the Spring of 2014. With a revamption within the business model, as well as key staff members being put into place, the Midwest Indoor Racing Series presented by Motor City Racing Promotions is excited about the fast approaching 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season. The first event of the third MIRS season is now official and it's at a familiar venue.

 

The spacious Kellogg Arena, located in Battle Creek, Michigan will serve as hosts of the 2014/2015 MIRS Season Opener; the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Classic Weekend on Friday-Saturday, November 28-29th. The weekend will feature two nights of racing starting on Friday, November 28th with an abbreviated show with three classes as well as a full practice for all divisions. Then the weekend will climax on Saturday, November 29th with a full show for all divisions.

On Friday, November 28th, the drivers within the Quarter Midgets and Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts divisions will run a complete full show while the premier division within MIRS, the 600 Mini Sprints will run a special preliminary program to kick off the weekend. In addition, there will also be an open practice earlier in the day for the remaining divisions who will race the following day.

 

On Saturday, November 29th, the 600 Mini Sprints return and will headline a full show highlighted by the big 50-Lap Thanksgiving Classic Feature while the Quarter Midgets and Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts return for their second complete show in two days. In addition, the Arena/Mini Cups and Lawn Mowers will also join in on the program and so will the MCR-type Dwarf Cars. Specific classes within the Great Lakes Tire Go-Kart and Quarter Midget divisions will be announced at a later date.

 

A brand new division will be introduced to the indoors circuit; the Bandoleros who have become very successful in just a short amount of time during the outdoors season at Spartan Speedway (MI), have officially been added to the MIRS program for the upcoming campaign.

 

"We have very high expectations for this season opening event. Our team within MCRP/MIRS have all been working feverously this summer to implement positive changes for both the fans and competitors." Explained MCRP/MIRS President, Scott Menlen. "We expect the Thanksgiving Classic will be the finest MIRS event to date." He added.

 

As for the rest of the 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season and in addition to the season opener in Battle Creek, Michigan, a minimum of two more race weekends are in the works for the third season of Indoors Racing. Any and all details and official information will be released throughout the remainder of the summer and into the fall months leading into the new season.
