NickHolt Posted August 2, 2014 Report Share Posted August 2, 2014 Corvette Racing Preparing FIA WEC Entry for COTA by John Dagys(july 31, 2014) - The GTE-Pro grid for September’s FIA World Endurance Championship round at the Circuit of The Americas is set to receive a significant boost, with the addition of an American fan favorite to the mix. Multiple sources have confirmed to Sportscar365 that Corvette Racing is preparing a single-car factory entry for the Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas on Sept. 20, as part of the Lone Star Le Mans weekend with the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. The Pratt & Miller squad, which currently leads the TUDOR Championship GTLM standings, is expected to field its spare Corvette C7.R chassis, originally built as a test car, for the FIA WEC round with a to-be-determined lineup of drivers. It’s understood further details are still being finalized, with the program likely to be announced in the coming weeks. Corvette Racing program manager Doug Fehan could not be reached for comment. While currently not represented in the series, the Corvette C7.R received FIA WEC-specific Balance of Performance adjustments this week, adding further fuel to the fire for its cameo appearance in Austin. If the factory Corvette entry is officially given the green light, it would join fellow works efforts from Porsche Team Manthey and Aston Martin Racing, along with two factory supported Ferraris from AF Corse in the highly competitive GTE-Pro class. It would also result in the team undertaking two races in a single day, with the TUDOR Championship round set to run from 11:35 a.m.-2:20 p.m., followed by the FIA WEC event from 5-11 p.m. CT on Saturday Sept. 20.
