Circuit of The Americas™ seeking volunteer race marshals for Lone Star Le Mans

AUSTIN, Texas (May 16, 2014) – Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is seeking volunteer race marshals for Lone Star Le Mans, Sept. 16-20. This exciting weekend mixes the best of international endurance racing, like the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, with the sights, sounds and flavors as big as Texas. Lone Star Le Mans will also mark the debut of night racing at Austin’s award-winning grand prix circuit.

Interested parties should complete the Circuit of The Americas’ Preliminary Volunteer Application located at http://circuitoftheamericas.com/volunteer/marshals. Applications will be reviewed when received and applicants will be notified as soon as possible. Additional information about the event and responsibilities will be distributed as it becomes available. Previous race marshal experience is preferred, but not required.

Individuals selected as volunteer race marshals will receive training and unique benefits in exchange for their service, including the opportunity to experience the very first night racing event held at COTA’s world-class sports and entertainment complex, merchandise, food, camping and a party at the conclusion of race weekend. The event schedule is available on COTA’s website.

Lone Star Le Mans will feature the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and their support series. Drivers from the FIA WEC and TUDOR Championship endurance series will come together for two back-to-back races on Saturday, Sept. 20, including famous drivers like TV star Patrick Dempsey and former Formula 1™ driver Mark Webber. The night’s festivities do not stop at racing. Lone Star Le Mans will offer live music throughout the venue, including performances in COTA’s award-winning Austin360 Amphitheater and a fireworks display will light up the night during the FIA WEC six-hour race on Saturday.

Tickets for the Lone Star Le Mans start at $79 for a two-day (Friday-Saturday) pass and are now on sale at http://www.circuitoftheamericas.com/wectudor. Kids ages 12 and under receive free general admission with a ticketed adult. Tickets allow guests to sit in reserved seats and explore all general admission areas of the venue.

One of our fb followers asked why they don't just hit up the SCCA for experienced volunteer track marshalls like every other road circuit in the U.S. They probably would, except that they pissed off and alienated the SCCA & its members early on.

What? COTA managment pissing Texas folks off? No way!

I'm a motorhead and I won't set foot on that property until Epstein offers a public, sincere apology to Tavo. And I'm sure there are MANY Texas race fans who have their own reasons for not patronizing COTA.
