Circuit of The Americas™ provides transportation tips for guests attending the 2013 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX

AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 13, 2013) – Circuit of The Americas has released transportation tips for guests attending the 2013 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, Nov. 15-17.

With the volume of Grand Prix-related activities both at the Circuit and downtown during Austin Fan Fest fueled by Shell, hundreds of thousands of additional visitors are expected in Central Texas during race weekend. The Circuit’s transportation plan has been designed to transport tens of thousands of ticket holders, media representatives and Circuit workers and vendors to the venue in southeast Travis County as safely and efficiently as possible. Nonetheless, heavy traffic is expected during peak travel times in the mornings and afternoons, and guests are encouraged to follow these guidelines as they head to Circuit of The Americas:

General Guidance for Guests

1. Leave early! Attendees should expect to add at least one hour to their travel time to get to designated Park + Ride locations or to get from accommodations to the Circuit with an on-site parking pass. Circuit gates open daily at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 15-17 and the facility will be ready to greet early arrivals. Parking lots at the Circuit open at 7 a.m. CT.

2. Take advantage of the new Park + Ride lots located along FM 973 and FM 812, approximately three miles from the track. Patrons may park their vehicles in these lots and ride free shuttle buses to COTA each day of the three-day event (Nov. 15-17). Park + Ride passes are on sale now at www.circuitoftheamericas.com/f1 and cost $20 per vehicle for a three-day pass or $10 per vehicle if you buy each day individually (advance-purchase or at the lot).

3. Race goers staying in downtown hotels are encouraged to leave their vehicles parked in the downtown area, walk to the Austin Convention Center, and take advantage of the inexpensive $5 round-trip shuttle to COTA. Downtown shuttles will drop passengers at COTA’s shuttle bus depot on McAngus Road, just one-half mile from COTA’s Grand Plaza entrance.

4. Do not bring prohibited items to the track or on shuttle buses; there will be no place to store them at the COTA’s entry gates and confiscated items will not be returned. A list of prohibited items is available at http://www.circuitoftheamericas.com/prohibited-items.

5. Guests with onsite parking should follow the instructions printed on the back of their parking pass. GPS should be turned off as specific routes will be identified for designated parking lots.

6. Know which streets are closed to non-emergency vehicles. The City of Austin posts these closures at www.atxgrandprix.org.

7. Plan to spend the day at the Circuit; there will be lots to see and experience, including FREE concerts at the Austin360 Amphitheater. A calendar of the weekend’s events is available at http://www.circuitoftheamericas.com/f1/schedule; and

8. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes and dress for the weather.
