DIRT LATE MODEL NEWS & NOTES:

 

DENNIS ERB decided today to call it quits for the 2004 racing season. The driver from Carpentersville, Illinois wound up competing in an amazing 94 events throughout the course of his 2004 campaign. Dennis found victory lane in 16 of those events including the $10,000 to win Prairie Dirt Classic, the $15,000 to win UMP Challenge of Champions Extravaganza, and the $8,000 to win Northern AllStar Late Model Series (NALMS) finale. The driver of the Petroff Towing / B&K Sportswear & Vinyl Graphics #28 Rayburn / Hedrick Monte Carlo also finished fourth on the grueling UMP Summer Nationals circuit this season.

 

STEVE CAMPBELL won the Ramsey's Car Wash/AB Auto Glass Late Models points title at Port Royal Speedway.

 

The Speed Channel will air this Stacker 2 Xtreme DirtCar National Finals from Knoxville Raceway several times more in the month of November. Nov 14 @1am EST, Nov 16 @3am EST, and on Thanksgiving Day Nov 25 @12pm EST. EARL PEARSON JR and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports Team will get plenty of camera coverage during this 2-hour broadcast. Pearson conducted several interviews for the Speed Channel cameras, including an in-depth interview with Pearson inside the Knoxville Sprint Car Museum. Pearson talked candidly about his career, his team, his family and what it meant to win the 2004 Stacker 2 Xtreme DirtCar Series Championship.

 

“The Fireball” JEFF FLOYD racked up his biggest win of his racing career on November 6 as he took home $7,500 for winning the ‘Comp Cams Memphis Nationals’ at the Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, TN. Floydis sponsored this year by the Stamp Out Smoking program in accordance with the Arkansas Department of Health. The SOS campaign is money the state of Arkansas is using from their settlements with the big tobacco companies. SOS focuses on public education, community programs, school programs, helping smokers quit, and the enforcement of laws prohibiting sales to minors. STEVE FRANCIS, who finished second in World of Outlaws Late Model Series points will resume racing in December as he heads "down under" to compete as a part of Team USA in Australia. The 2005 World of Outlaws Late Model Series is scheduled to begin in February.

 

RANDY WEAVER and PATRICK DUGGAN have been seen in recent weeks fielding two #15 cars at selected events such as Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga., Atomic Motor Speedway in Knoxville and Winchester Speedway. Weaver and Duggan announced their intentions to field two cars in 2005 on the newly-formed Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series. Weaver will be teaming up with Duggan for next season in one of Duggan’s cars.

SANCTION NEWS & NOTES:

 

The Central Nebraska Circle Track Association has announced plans to run a twenty-five race schedule for 2005 as they join forces with Junction Motor Speedway in promotion of the Friesen Chevrolet Challenge Series. George Anderson of Hastings, Nebraska and the 50 plus driver strong, CNCTA membership revealed plans at their annual meeting in Grand Island on November 7th to the amalgamation. Delmar and Jason Friesen, representing Junction Motor Speedway, have scheduled a minimum of 17 Saturday nights of Late Models and will formulate additional events for the Friesen Chevrolet Challenge Series.

 

Officials of Wisconsin Motorsports & Entertainment, LLC, and the Wisconsin Dirt Late Model Association have come to terms on a 17-race schedule for the 2005 season between the Raceway at Powercom Park and Oshkosh’s Powercom Speed Zone. After a strong showing in 2004 Wisconsin Motorsports General Manager Rex Melius made the move to contact the WDLMA with regards to an increased schedule for the coming year.

 

The Newly-formed Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series, set to begin in 2005, has inked a chassis deal. Warrior Race Cars, located out of Knoxville, Tennessee has committed to award a 2005 Warrior Race Car Chassis for the 2005 Champion of the Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series. The chassis, which is referred to by Warrior Race Cars as a 'Car in a Box', is valued at $7,900. The UMP Late Model Awards Banquet will be held January 22, 2005 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL.

 

RACE TRACK NEWS & NOTES:

 

The 16th Annual SAS Gobbler 75 will be contested at Cleveland Speedway Saturday night November 20. The Gobbler is the final event of the year for the Southern All Star Series and the SAS 2004 point champion and rookie of the year will be decided and acknowledged at the event. Junction Motor Speedway in Nebraska announced plans to run a weekly Saturday night program consisting of five classes of auto racing for the 2005 season. The specific date for opening night will be announced in a few weeks.

Due to the amount of beverages and candy left over after the season, Outlaw Motor Speedway is selling all of the 20oz pop beverages, fountain pop and candy. All products are new and have not been opened. The 20oz pop is $20.00 a case, ($.83 per bottle) and there are 24 bottles in each case. Candy is $22.00 per box, 36 bars in each box unless noted. Boundless Motor Sports Racing Inc., (OTCBB: BMSR) (Boundless) d/b/a DIRT Motorsports, announced that it has executed a definitive purchase agreement for the purchase of Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA from Lernerville Speedway Inc. and its owners. The half-mile, clay oval with seating for approximately 11,000 built in 1967, hosted more than 30 races this past season including two World of Outlaws Sprint Series and two World of Outlaws Late Model Series events. Closing of this transaction is dependent upon the satisfaction of certain conditions precedent.

 

Tickets go on sale for the annual Port Royal Speedway Awards Banquet Friday November 12, 2004. Tickets can be purchased at the Speedway Office Tuesday's, Thursday's and Friday's from 8:00 A.M. until noon or 1:00 P.M. until 4. Telephone calls will also be accepted at (717)-527-4414. Sunset Speedway will be racing a Limited Dirt Late Model Class were all the cars will be powered by the factory sealed GM Racing Crate Motor in 2005. The Parts Department at Weston GM Pontiac, located at 22555 SE Stark Street in Gresham, Oregon will be the official supplier of the Racing GM Crate Motor for this division.
