Explanation about Ryan Engelhardt's DQ at CCMS

Notice to TSZ from EFG Motorsports

EFG Motorsports, owner of the #53 Limited Late Model driven by Ryan Engelhardt with Cade Forest as Crew Chief, would like to clarify their position as to the results of the Texas Stock Car Championship race held in Corpus. Upon arrival at the race track, we took our car to the technical inspection area. We were asked a list of questions, one of which was what heads we were running. We told the tech official that we were running Dart Iron Eagle 200 heads, which are legal for T.S.R.S. We were told, prior to the day of the race, that T.S.R.S engines would be legal for this race. The tech official informed us as to the legal weight for the car to run with these heads. As some now know, our heads cc’d at 60. T.S.R.S rules say minimum 58 cc. The rule for this race says minimum 62 cc, without a weight penalty. Our engine builder, Westside Performance, was instructed to build us a T.S.R.S legal engine, which they did. Our mistake was not asking specifically what cc these heads were, but, at the same time, we were under the impression that our T.S.R.S engine would be legal for this race. Who’s at fault? What difference does it make! The race is over. What’s the lesson? Know your engine’s specifications, know the rules, and don’t assume anything.

Corpus Christi is Ryan’s favorite track and he really enjoyed the challange of racing against the most competitive race cars in the state, which we feel Ryan did very successfully. We are proud to have contributed to one of the most exciting races of the year. Thank you Owen and congratulations Ervin. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Greg and Chris Davidson, Chris Sathoff, John Hiel, David Hassinger, Mark Chrudimsky, Bartell Motorsports, Westside Performance and all of our supporting fans.
