Alloutpc17
Johnson qualified outside pole but his car was too low. So he starts in the rear. Guess nascar isnt looking the other way.
jwmbishop
Ya know - its really funny. Gotta qualify to start - gotta pass inspect to qualify. Recently I watched a team go through tech several times - every time they made a suspension change to improve handling they re-teched to make sure the height was correct. Same thing here - NASCAR however has MUCH tighter time restraints and as such gave them 5 minutes for final call. In their shoes (they had a mechanical problem and knew it) I would have done the very same thing. Get it on the track - even though it would mean a start in the rear! Who among us would choose a "did not try" over a "start in the rear"?
Alloutpc17
And he doesnt have a whole lot to loose starting in the rear. Being too low after the race would effect him.
poorboy
It apparently doesn't matter where they start. Good job Jimmie and team.
