Bob Labonte Racing & Earl Pearson race Kilgore THIS SAT!

Recommended Posts

Years ago a Texas racing legacy got started down in Corpus Christi with the Labonte family. Father Bob and his two NASCAR Sprint Cup champion sons Terry & Bobby. Bobby didn't really get started good until the family racing team relocated to North Carolina but he's still pretty proud of those Texas roots! When he resurrected Bob Labonte Racing in 2007, it was as a Dirt Late Model team. One of Bobby's first test sessions in a DLM before the first Eldora Dream was at nearby Ark-La-Tex Speedway as a matter of fact. In 2010, when Bobby founded a Dirt Late Model chassis company, they called it the.... 'Longhorn' Chassis. What else?

2-time Lucas Oil Late Model Champion Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL is once again behind the wheel of the BLR Longhorn Chassis #44 THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, April 6th at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas! Earl comes in 3rd in points in the series -- the ONLY appearance of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series in the state of Texas for 2013!

What a finish Jared Landers and Jimmy Owens had going down to the wire last year in Highbanks Havoc II! Swapping the lead around in the final laps with Landers winning by a foot or two! Landers drives for Clint Bowyer Racing. Those NASCAR guys really like their dirt track!!! Here's a video of it that was taken by an exited fan in the tower on a cell phone. You'll get the idea!!!

That's the Kentucky Colonel Steve Francis getting 3rd and Georgia's Jonathan Davenport who just won $30,000 in the Carolina's last week, finishing 4th in last year's Havoc. The Ark-La-Tex's own Duke Whiseant from Texarkana rounded out the top 5. Other locals making the $10,000 to win A-main last year included Shrevport's BJ Robinson in the Childress Rentals #F5 who finished 9th and he was 9th again at this year's Pelican 100. May have had the best car at Lonestar's Turkey Nationals in November until getting collected in a big crash.

After winning the first Havoc, Mr. Skull & Crossbones himself, Scott Bloomquist finished 8th last year. Childress teammates -- at least part of the time -- Chris Wall & Don O'Neal finished 12th & 13th. 2013 SUPR Late Model champ & Lonestar Turkey Nats winner Rob Litton finished 14th while 2013 COMP Cams SDS Super Late Model champ Jon Mitchell finished 16th. Local Late Model racers Timothy Culp, Ricky Ingalls and Jeff Chanler all made that A-main as well.
